Editorial Role & Responsibilities
Editors play a critical role in maintaining the quality, integrity, and reputation of OAS Publications by overseeing a rigorous peer-review process. Their key responsibilities include:
- Assigning appropriate reviewers to evaluate submissions based on expertise.
- Assessing the novelty and quality of manuscripts to ensure high scholarly standards.
- Considering reviewer feedback but making the final decision on acceptance or rejection.
Assigning Reviewers
Editors must evaluate all manuscripts received from the Editorial Office.
- Exceptional submissions may be accepted outright.
- If a manuscript is to be rejected, the editor must provide valid reasons for rejection.
Decision Making
After peer review and editorial assessment, the editor may choose one of the following decisions:
Accept with Major Revisions – Extensive modifications required before publication.
Accept with Minor Revisions – Small corrections necessary for final approval.
Accept with No Changes– The manuscript is ready for publication.
Reject – Manuscript does not meet the journal's standards.
Editorial Contribution to the Journal
Editors should actively contribute to the journal’s growth by:
- Providing new ideas and suggestions to enhance standards.
- Submitting editorials and manuscripts to maintain journal consistency.
- Encouraging peer-reviewed research and technological advancements.
- Promoting high-quality manuscript submissions from colleagues and experts.
Editorial Responsibilities
- Assess whether submissions align with the journal’s scope and quality.
- Maintain timely communication with the editorial office and adhere to deadlines.
- Respect the academic independence of authors.
